5 weeks of product discovery coaching

The Product Buffs course has been developed to help product teams run reliable and repeatable product discovery processes.

Exploration Stage
The first two weeks of the course focuses on exploring the problem space -
this includes 3 hrs of coaching & 2 hrs of practice (5 hrs total).
Week 1

Intro to the course and crafting the product vision

Unlike other courses, we start at the end and work our way backwards. After a quick introduction about the course curriculum, we jump into crafting the product vision and framing the product discovery objectives. This helps create buy-in from day one around a core product belief. From here we can falsify assumptions.
Week 2

Choose the right foundational research options and processes

Next we'll look at a range of foundational research options to tackle the problem space. Armed with different techniques, your product teams will be better equipped to find product-market fit. We'll also discuss how to set-up your teams for success using proven agile methodologies.
Definition Stage
The second two weeks is about defining the product hypotheses to solve the identified problem -
this includes 3 hrs of coaching & 2 hrs of practice (5 hrs total).
week 3

Generate and score the main product hypotheses

Our focus on the course then moves towards the creation of the product exploration tree. We build this together and navigate down into the hypotheses branches to start addressing the identified opportunities. We also assess these hypotheses using an evaluation tool that highlights the most promising options.
week 4

Map out and visualise the different solutions

Once we've identified the best hypotheses, the next stage is to turn these into actionable products. To do that we run a solution sprint and map out different visual representations of the ideas. These can then be used to compare and contrast the most viable candidates to test.
Experimentation Stage
The final week focuses on experimentation and generating stakeholder buy-in,
this includes 1.5 hrs of coaching & 1.5 hrs of practice (3 hrs total).
Week 5

Tie all the learnings together and wrap up

The last week is about consolidating all of the learnings together.  We cover testing techniques to get quick signal on the solutions. We'll also teach participants how to pitch the final output to get buy-in, ultimately leading to a successful product discovery process that graduates to the build-it and ship-it stages.

Frequently asked questions.

Here's a list of the most commonly asked questions

How much of a time commitment is the course?

The Product Buffs coaching course runs over five successive weeks. We know product folks are busy so each session is between 60-90 minutes (depending on group size). Between sessions, there's approximately 1 more hour of preparation for participants each week.

So the commitment is ~2 hours per week, 10 hours in total.

What's the format of the sessions?

Our course has been created with learning outcomes top of mind. We believe that problem-based learning is the best way to ensure that the knowledge sticks. So each session is held in an interactive format which is held remotely over Zoom.

This methodology is based on the Case Method which is a teaching approach that invites learners to apply decisions to real-world scenarios. Instead of focusing on past case studies where we have near perfect information, the Case Method asks students to engage problems prospectively. We literally put ourselves in the shoes of another person who is faced with a decision and act out the scenario. It was developed as a mode of teaching based on Socratic principles pioneered at Harvard Law School by Christopher C. Langdell.

What exactly does the course cover?

Check out our 'How it Works' page to get a better sense of the course curriculum.

In short, we divide the sessions into three main themes 1) problem exploration 2) product definition and 3) solution experimentation. These topics cover everything needed to run a world class product discovery process.

What do you mean by ongoing support after course completion?

We understand that learning new frameworks can be tricky. That's why we're available after the course to help answer any follow up questions or queries. This comes at no extra cost to participants.

What is the 30 day money back guarantee?

We're so confident in the quality of our coaching that each course comes with a full 30 day money back guarantee. If you don't think Product Buffs has delivered on its promise, we will refund 100% of your payment, no questions asked.
